Having not stayed at this hotel for several years, didn't know quite what to expect, although in the past it had been extremely good in all areas.
Wow is the only word for it now. It is even better than before. The warmth hits you as soon as you walked through the door and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and really warm on a very cold evening. The food absolutely delicious. A special word of praise for the Head Waiter, who greets you like a long lost friend and keeps the whole restaurant flowing with precision.
What a nice change to go somewhere where nothing is too much trouble.
Can't wait to return.

Just spent a night in room 11 size is good about the size of a cozy living room. Some lovely shabby chic bedroom furniture. Some nice touches like being told who cleaned your room (Jessica you made my room lovely thank you) walls are a little thin but I still had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Malcom (I think it was his name) is friendly and full of info about the building. He is a credit to the hotel...would I go again? Definitely The place is so nice and peaceful ideal to recharge your batteries and quality time with your partner. Free WiFi but it can be slow but in my opinion that's not a bad thing

The period between Christmas and new year is always a good test of hotel service it's so easy for the staff to lose momentum and take a mental breather before the NYE big bash. We stayed on Dec 28 and were directed to room 11 which was pleasant but very chilly with only one small radiator in the room. There was also only a thin bedcover and we had to ask for more bedding and were provided with a thick duvet. Why we had to ask for this mid-winter is a mystery.

The Tudor based hotel is situated in a lovely spot surrounded by farmland and the internal 16th century architecture is amazing with lots of beams and leaded glass. With a roaring fire in the lounge this would have been a fantastic place to relax on a winter afternoon, but when we went down to the bar about 4.30pm the lounge was in darkness and the bar was closed, we had to hunt for a waiter to get any service.

As has been mentioned, the GM, Malcolm, is a real asset to the hotel and is a real "people person". He chatted to us for much longer than he needed to and made us feel very welcome. He even saved us some money by suggesting we change our booking to a package rather than as separate room and meals, something he needn't have done. His description of the restaurant ethos led us to expect a memorable fine-dining experience but although the food was of good quality and well cooked, it lacked the finesse and subtlety to get anywhere near a Michelin star. Our table was also in a chilly corner a there appeared to be only two waiters serving the whole restaurant, which is probably why we had to ask for water twice. I hate to be negative, because I'm sure everyone was trying their best, maybe they just need a couple of extra bodies?

To give a further example, the breakfast table soon ran out of grapefruit, fruit yoghurt and orange juice. We had to ask for these to be topped up, something which shouldn't be necessary especially at the sort of rates the hotel is commanding. Simple things that happen when you're understaffed or you drop your guard and which can make a memorable experience into a mediocre one.

We were a party of 8 and stayed on the 2 night New Year break. The welcome and friendliness is just wonderful and the staff cannot do enough to make your stay pleasureable. The food was definitely NOT mass catering! The New Years Eve meal was a delight and beautifully served to the hundred or so guests - a huge amount of skill and perparation had obviously gone into this. Our dinner on the following night was of an equally high standard and the local ingredients in the breakfasts are excellent.
Our party had rooms 11-15 and apart from problems with one of the showers, we were all very satisfied with the standard. Overall we had no complaints and will definitley go back to the hotel - perhaps even lashing out and going for one of the amazing suites in the old manor house!

Me and my Wife's Family went to Albright Hussey Manor to celebrate her Mum 80th Birthday
As our Party consisted off 21 Adults and 4 Children we were given the Moathouse Room which was a great room, the food was a three course Dinner with a good choice of Starters,Mains and Dessert the food was excellent for the price (under £20 per head) all of the Staff were very friendy and could not do enough for us the service was excellent and all our party got there courses at around the same time which says a lot for the Chef .The Manor was very Impressive inside and out to the Bridge over the Moat to the inside of the rooms .Overall all of the party were very impressed with the whole experience and as most of the Party live 40 miles away including me and my Wife I will be having a Trip out there again for a meal and maybe a stay .

Our second stay the the hotel and we were equally thrilled. The service, cleanliness of the room and quality of the food were all superb. The duty manager was very cheerful, friendly and obliging. The maid had mistakenly put a mattress topper on the bed in place of the duvet. When I rang down about it, the duty manager came up with a proper duvet and placed it in the duvet cover straight away.
During the courses for the NYE gala dinner, I mentioned that I didn't want the Champagne iced course, and the duty manager (who was serving), promptly brought me a blackcurrant sorbet instead! There were 100 people to serve, so the kitchen must have been stretched,so I was very impressed with that. Another guest said that she couldn't eat a creme caramel with alcohol in, so the same duty manager, brought out two huges scoops of chocolate ice cream!
A good place to stay, although it has no leisure facilities!

My husband & I spent one night at the manor to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary...upon arrival we were greeted by Malcolm who instantly made us feel welcome and then he advised us that our double room had been upgraded to a suite which included a spa bath and four poster bed! Our check in was swift and once we'd got to our room we settled in...lovely room, spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished with beautiful views of the Shropshire rolling countryside including the swans in the moat....we went for pre dinner drinks in the lounge area...service was quick and we perused the menu at our leisure...we opted for the tasting menu upon recommendation...and we were not disappointed...7 courses which were beautifully presented and delicious....the right amount of time was left between courses and we enjoyed a lovely relaxing evening...our 1st wedding anniversary was certainly celebrated in style and I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough...We shall certainly return

We booked this particular hotel as we had a Unique Hotels gift voucher and this was one of the ones listed. Located just outside Shrewsbury - What a Gem. Unfortunately for us we stayed in the 'new' part of the hotel, I would have liked to have seen the bedrooms in the original part of the building. However, the room was adequate, clean and had everything we needed. The staff were fantastic especially in the restaurant. There was a wedding on the day we stayed but you would not have known. We have stayed in much larger hotels than this one when there has been a wedding on and our stay has been totally ruined by the noise. Not on this occasion. The wedding guests were in another section of the hotel and there was no noise at all in the restaurant. My only criticism would be that the room menu was more extensive than the restaurant menu but the food was excellent and the service fantastic. Breakfast was good and unhurried. Checking in and checking out was quick and easy. Well done to everyone concerned. Will definitely stay here again.
