We stayed last weekend for my husband’s 60th birthday. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and enjoyed the history and quirkiness of it. Staff at the hotel are very attentive and friendly. They took the time to adbise us on places of interest. Breakfast was good and plentiful. I would recommend a visit.

Malcolm the manager could not be more accommodating. He single handedly makes this place worth going back to.

On some days, the reception staff could be smiling and be more engaging.

Really excellent cooked breakfast.

As the rooms and bathrooms are dated. The room maids could make more of an effort to ensure that the bath tubs, bathroom floors, carpets, lampshades, etc are all spotlessly clean.

Attention to detail is always so important.

Lovely surroundings and open countryside.

The hotel is in a great country side setting to which eight of us stayed overnight to celebrate a family members birthday, we were well looked after and made to feel welcome by all the staff. The evening dinner menu, food quality and wine choice was excellent with superb service from Javie in the restaurant.

After dinner we sat talking in the lounge bar and enjoyed late evening drinks with no one rushing us off to our rooms, Thanks to you all from all of us. .

We stayed at Albright Hussey for my birthday weekend. The hotel is lovely, hopelessly clean. The staff are friendly, approachable, gave us advice on where to visit that was pet friendly as we had our dog with us. We arrived early but our room was ready, it was in the newer block but was a very good size room with a view over the fields looking towards the Wrekin. We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely, waiting on staff were great. I can see why so many have their weddings here, it's perfect, beautiful gardens, little moat, black swans. Out side bar for sunny days. It was about ten minutes drive into Shrewsbury & a car drive to the nearest pub but as we had been out all day both days we were there we were happy just to stay in the bar after our evening meals & chill with a glass of wine.

We had the wedding reception of our daughter and her husband.
And i can honestly say this place is just perfect from the friendly and helpful staff on the frontline (bar staff/ waitresses etc.) right through to the back of house staff who you dont see but are just as important.
The food was excellent, function room prepared to perfection, we stayed over night and the bedrooms and breakfast didn't let us down either add this to the setting and as i said at the start this place is perfect.

We stayed en route to Chester and picked Albright as it was half way and looked lovely. We weren't disappointed. As soon as we drove up the the track from the main road and saw the building we knew it was going to be lovely and secluded.
There was a wedding in progress but we were checked in quickly and efficiently by Kirsty.
We had a super meal in the beautiful old restaurant and then sat out and watched the sunset in the distance. We were looked after so well by Malcolm; nothing was too much trouble.
We slept so well as it's so quiet and peaceful and then had a perfect breakfast.
We will be back. Thank you all.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Due to the location you would need a car.

Upon arrival we were checked quickly into our room. Our room was an executive room and my only complaints was that there was no aircon/fan, and that the tv was very small.

Breakfast was the typical fayre but was really delicious, and i would not skip it.

The hotel has a lot of charm and character, is reasonably pricedand the staff are definitely an asset.

My wife and I recently stopped here for an overnight catch-up with some friends. We chose a Sunday evening since Saturday's tend to be expensive and booked up due to weddings. We spent the afternoon on the sun terrace, had a very nice meal in the restaurant and a good breakfast the following morning. The hotel had automatically upgraded our room which was very good of them.
This was a good value short break and both couples really enjoyed it, made better by very friendly and professional staff. We will certainly consider going back at some point in the future.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Albert Hussey for our wedding anniversary. Everything about it was lovely. We were upgraded to a suite which was gorgeous. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Although we didn’t dine in the restaurant, the breakfast was really tasty. Beautiful grounds. I can see why it’s a popular wedding location!

I stayed here on overnight whilst travelling for business in the middle of the week.

I have stayed in nicer four star Hotels but I have also stayed in many worse. I think there are lots of different booking options for this hotel so I would advise the traveller to take care over which room and rate they book.

I got the feeling that this hotel focuses mainly on weddings and so during the week is possibly a nice quiet option. I was able to reserve a comfortable room at a reasonable rate and enjoyed a quiet and relaxing sleep in a room overlooking the old medieval battlefield of Shrewsbury, which was fought in the adjacent field in 1403.

The Hotel is situated just out of town down a country lane. The welcome was good and the restaurant food was high-quality, if possibly a little too fancy for the average travelling businessman’s pie and pint taste and, possibly, also outside his normal expenses budget. The style of the hotel is very traditional and is themed on its history. Lots of oak panels and dark wood furniture for instance. Very different to your average Premier Inn or Travelodge (thank God!). It has a formal atmosphere.

The bedroom I was in was good size with a lovely view across open fields (and the small car park). The bed was comfortable. The room had a trouser press and tea and coffee, biscuits, water et cetera and a small pot of sweets. I did not see an ironing board but I would imagine one would be available if needed. It was nice to have a door that actually locked with a key. However I could hear noise from other rooms during the evening and not sure if this was due to thin walls, noisy neighbours or big gaps under the doors. Luckily nothing that kept me awake. The bathroom was small (I had to squeeze past the sink to get to the toilet) but it included a large bath with excellent shower.

Breakfast, which is charged extra depending on your booking arrangements was very tasty and is recommended. There is a choice of continental or full English with accompanying yoghurt’s fresh fruit etc. No rubber scrambled egg here!

I would definitely return, with caution over the rate I paid.
