Mathmapics is a family business, based in Sittingbourne headed by Peter Gruitt - an experienced Maths tutor. Peter has been head of department in two large secondary schools and now has a thriving tutoring business teaching mathematics to children in Years 4 to 11.
Mathmapics is an effective method of learning using a range of techniques to make lessons fun, interesting and practical. Peter teaches Maths in a way that captures children's imaginations in order to bring the subject to life. The practical activities used to support learning makes Mathmapics different to most other private tuition.
Peter is primary and secondary trained and up to date with all latest teaching initiatives, National Curriculum and SATs requirements. Over the last few years he has worked closely with a Sittingbourne primary school to supplement their maths lessons prior to the 11+. Everyone is delighted with the pass rate for the 11+ and improvement in SATs grades.
Peter has found that the optimum number of pupils within each lesson is a maximum of 5 - Big enough to generate some buzz whilst remaining small enough to address each child's particular learning needs.
Lessons last 1¼ hours and cost £17. Parents are invoiced half-termly for tutoring fees. Classes run during term time. Peter also offers one to one private tuition during school holidays to assist with individual difficulties.
Peter also tutors children identified as gifted and talented in Years 1 and 2.
