When asking friends in Sittingbourne about tution for Maths/11+ one name kept comming up! Peter Gruitt. My Daughter has been attending a weekly session since Sept 09, and has just passed her 11+. Peter gave her the confidence in her abilities and she acheived a fantastic score as a result.

I have enjoyed going to Peter every week for the last year, it has been great fun! He has really helped me with my maths as all my teachers at school have commented on it. He has also helped me with my English as we have written some great essays for him. (Thank you Becca for helping us with that too). Peter has made learning really fun and I have even made some new friends!(I am sure that anyone that has been to him will agree!) I have reccommended him to my cousin who is looking forward to starting with him next week and so is my brother who will be joining him next year!

Our daughter is in year 5 and has been attending a weekly class with Peter from January 2010. My husband and I (both seconday teachers) have been delighted with her growth in effort, application and confidence since joining his classes. She has always been a bright child who (without working too hard) has been just above the national average. We feel we took the right decision to send her to a tutor to be taught outside of the family and her school, but, we never expected her to progress to the extent that she has in only two terms. Her SAT results at school went from 3a to 5c in two terms and from middle set to top set. She is so positive, motivated and confident about her work now and is proud of her success. She now believes she can be a "Grammar School Girl!" She is continuing to practice for the 11+ in September with excitment and confidence rather than fear! We feel fortunate to have been recommended Peter! Thankyou!!!

Myself and my husband (both being seconday school teachers) have been delighted with how our daughter in year 5 has progressed during her time of being tutored by Peter. She was always a bright child who was doing fairly well in school always just above the national average, however, we felt she lacked confidence and never really reached her full potential. Even though we are teachers we felt a tutor may help and be more exciting for her than being taught at home - we were right! She really enjoys her lessons with Peter and to our delight had real evidence of her progression in her SAT tests. In only two terms she has gone from level 3a to 5c and from middle set to top set. She is now a confident student who is motivated by learning and enjoying her success! She has much more confidence about sitting the 11+ in September 2010 and now believes she could be a "Grammar School Girl". Thankyou Peter!!!!

We knew she had the potential to do well, and wanted to give her the opportunity to develop her strengths & improve her weakness's. Attending Peter’s classes gave her the confidence she needed to successfully sit the 11+ exam, and also to improve in other areas of the school curriculum. Within an academic year, she went from a level 4B to a level 5A in maths. We cannot recommend Peter highly enough!! You can see the children really enjoy attending Peter’s classes, where the atmosphere is one of mutual respect and friendliness. Thank you Peter!!

I originally sent my daughter along to Peter for extra tuition in mathematics - quite quickly her confidence grew and we didn't have any more upsets over lack of understanding ! She did so well with Peter that she then started doing extra work with mathmapics for the 11+ - and obviously passed ! We are so pleased, not just that she is now able to have the opportunity to attend grammar school - but that her entire attitude to maths has changed for the better ! My son has now been with Peter for a year; he started when he was in the bottom group for maths at school, and within a year is now in the top set! Peter has been an inspiration and the children enjoy his classes very much ! Highly recommended !!

My son Richard attended classes given by Peter for his 11+ exams. He did really well in the Kent 11+ where obtained a pass in the top 10%.He also passed the medway test achieving a good pass also. Peter was excellent when teaching in a class or one to one.He identified Richards weaknesses before his tests. I would highly recommend Peter he is an outstanding teacher with his easy manner encouraging the children in their Maths. Julie

I really enjoyed going to Peter Gruitt's Tutor groups, not only did he teach me and help me alot with my maths, but he also gave me confidence and taught me to believe in myself. He helped me pass my 11+, which when I first joined I would have never even thought of passing, but now I have passed and am now going to the School of my choice. I would recommend Peter Gruitt to anyone. He makes learning maths interesting as well as fun. He's even taught my Mum, and she's nearly as good as me!

As an adult who has never really enjoyed maths, and who has always struggled I had some tuition from Peter this year for an adult maths qualification. I would like to thank him for his time and patience. I would also like to recommend him to anyone who, like me, has hang ups about maths. If only I had been shown at school how to work things out so easily, perhaps then maths would have been an enjoyable subject! So once again, THANKYOU very much Peter, for everything.

When I decided to look for a Maths tutor for my daughter Rebecca, I didn't anticipate a 30 mile round trip from Maidstone to Tunstall once a week! (twice a week for the last two terms to cover Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning). However, as soon as I met Peter I knew it was the right decision.
Peter's mix of traditional teaching methods combined with origami worked beautifully for Rebecca. She found the lessons interesting, made new friends and enjoyed the competitiveness within the small group. Not only has she blossomed academically but her increased maturity and confidence has resulted in a greater understanding of the importance of her school work. There is no doubt in my mind that Rebecca's regular lessons with Peter contributed greatly to her success in the Kent Test.
I would, therefore, have no hesitation in recommending Peter to any parent looking for a tutor and, in fact, my younger son, Adam, has recently joined one of Peter's Year 4 groups!

Active Maths is an absolutely fantastic way of learning, it is very effective and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is completely different from being stuck in a classroom at school. You are in a quiet relaxed environment with no distractions, my sister and I went to active maths before our GCSE Exams…we have only just received our results and within 4 months we had gone up two grades!! We couldn’t believe it ourselves!! It just goes to show with the right teacher that’s willing and able to find the correct method/technique to teach an individual you can achieve what you didn’t think was possible.
Finally, Peter I sincerely thank you for all your hard work and patients, you’re a great teacher and a really nice person, thanks again. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Megs and I miss our maths sessions with you!

My daughter attended Active Maths tuition within a group of four children. She enjoyed the lessons and found them very useful not only for preparation for the 11 plus examinations but also for her school lessons. The sessions were fun and made maths enjoyable. We have received her examination results for the 11 plus and she passed with flying colours. I would not hesitate to recommend these lessons to anyone.

Peter is an exceptional tutor. He has tutored my three children over a ten year period. They looked forward to ʼPeter nightsʼ not just as a learning experience but a fun one too. My daughter has been having group tutoring for just over 1 year with Active Maths to help with the 11+ exam. Having just received the results she has passed with flying colours getting top marks in 2 out of the 3 papers and an excellent score for the 3rd paper.
