A brighter light during the economic downturn; Travelodge have confirmed it will be opening a new hotel in Sittingbourne. The 60-bed hotel, to be located on Bell Road, will create 20 jobs minimum for the town, and thanks to its partnership with the Jobcentre, all entry-level vacancies will go to local, long-term unemployed in and around Sittingbourne.
The branded-hotel sector has been enjoying a steady boom, despite the current recession, and this new £3.6M hotel is just part of a £165M expansion program by Travelodge, who are aiming to open a further 22 hotels across the UK.
The Chief Executive of Travelodge, Guy Parsons had this to say, “Despite the challenging consumer market, the demand for low cost, good quality, hotels is a growing trend across the UK. We have been looking for some time to find the right site in Sittingbourne and we are delighted to be building a hotel at Bell Road. We will be offering rooms from £19, which will help certainly attract new business and leisure visitors to the town helping to boost the local economy.”
