This is a day that is really easy to celebrate Eat a Red Apple Day! Apples are delicious and apples are nutritious. There are thousands of varieties of apples grown all over the world this day is to promote the benefits of eating red apples.

There are over 7,500 varieties of apples in the World. Apples come in a variety of shapes, flavors and in all shades of reds, greens, and yellows. They are one of the few fruits available at any time of the year.

Do you know what the science of growing apples is called? Its called pomology. Apple trees are grown from seed. It takes several years to go from the seedling stage to an apple producing tree.

Did you also know that apples are more efficient at waking you up, than caffeine.

The origin of Eat A Red Apple Day is not known,it was probably created by an apple growing company, the medical community or a dietitian.

A well known proverb is “An apple a day keeps the doctor away" dates from the 19th century in Wales. Apples have a high nutritional value. Compared to other fruits apples contain relatively low amounts of vitamin C, but are a rich source of other antioxidant compounds. Apples may reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer. Apples also help with heart disease, weight loss, and controlling cholesterol.

I love eating apples, Royal Gala, Pink Lady and Braeburn are my favorite. If you dont really bother with this versatile and heathly fruit the 1st December is an ideal day to start to discover the red apple and why stop there!
