International Mens Day is on Thursday 19th November. It is celebrated in more than 70 countries across the world and has a history dating back to 1992.

It is an occassion for men to celebrate their achievements and contibutions to the community, family, marriage, and child care. To promote positive male role models everyday, working class men who are living decent, honest lives, not just movie stars and sports men.

The object of International Mens Day is also to focus on both men's and boys's health, to improve gender relations, promote gender equality,  highlighting positive male role models, and to create a safer, better world where people are safe and able to grow to reach their full potential.

International Men’s Day is a time to highlight discrimination against men and boys in various areas such as family law, in areas of social services, social attitudes, in education, and in the  media and to project their positive contributions and achievements.

It  also connects with Universal Children's Day on November  20th  and forms a 48 hour celebration firstly of men, then children, with a recognition of the special relationships they share.
