AS THE spring flowers start to poke their heads above the parapet Knowle and Dorridge Lions are calling upon Silhillians to get out their running shoes and get in training for the Knowle Fun Run.
Richard Buckley, President of Knowle and Dorridge Lions met up with this year’s VIP starter Dame Caroline Spelman MP at Arden Academy.
Dame Spelman is set to join a long list of well-known VIPs who have started the Fun Runs and awarded trophies and prizes to the winners over the years.
At this year’s run on May 21 runners of all ages will be able to choose between completing 10k over two extended laps or 5k one lap.
There will also be the usual four childrens runs around Arden playing fields for each of school years 1 to 4.
The Lions have nominated three Prostate Cancer UK, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and Motor Neurone Disease Association as the chosen charities for this year’s run and as usual they will donate some of the donations to local causes.
This year Listers, Jaguar Land Rover, Taylor Wimpey, PSL Probate Solicitors and Aldi have all stepped forward to sponsor the event
