Solihull's newest Caribbean restaurant and bar, Turtle Bay, opening On Tuesday 31st May, is partnering with local charity, The Solihull Marie Curie Hospice.
On Tuesday 31st May, the first official day of trading for the restaurant, diners will only be asked to pay whatever they think their food is worth. Turtle Bay will match the amount that each table decides to pay, and then the total amount collected at the end of the opening day will be donated to the Marie Curie Hospice.
The Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. They have been carrying out this vital work for over 65 years and last year alone cared for over 2000 people from the West Midlands.
The money raised by Turtle Bay on their opening day will help to raise funds to support the hospice's every day services. It costs £7321 every day to run Solihull's Marie Curie Hospice, which has 24 private bedrooms, all with en-suite wet rooms, piped oxygen and double doors to landscape gardens.
Ashely Adams, Turtle Bay Solihull's General Manager said: "We're really delighted to be supporting a charity as vital and inspiring as Solihull's Marie Curie Hospice ahead of opening our new restaurant - we're honoured to be raising funds for them. This idea means that the better our staff do during opening day, the more we'll raise for the Hospice!"
Lynn Wood, Head of Fundraising at Marie Curie Solihull said: "We are extremely excited and grateful that Turtle bay has chosen the local Marie Curie hospice to support. We will use any donation given to us to continue to provide practical nursing care to our patients, as well as offering vital support to their families."
Turtle Bay's Solihull restaurant will seat 210 diners for blissful Caribbean food and drink 7 days a week. That's over 4200 sq m of rum, reggae and jerk, all served up in central Solihull on Station Road.
The restaurant will be open to the public from 11.30am on Tuesday 31st May. The 'Pay As You Feel' rule will apply until 9pm (full Ts&Cs below)
