Budding performers are being invited to come along to Solihull College to get a taste of life under the spotlight.
Taking place on Saturday 3rd March, the Performing Arts Industry Day in conjunction with Dancescape, is designed to give young people aged 14-16 the opportunity to take part in taster workshops, as well as learn about the Performing Arts courses on offer at the College.
Four workshops will be running throughout the event, including contemporary dance, street dance and a generic dance session with local organisation Dancescape. There will also be a singing workshop where young people can join in with a choir.
Rebekah Hartwell, Programme Leader for Performing Arts at Solihull College, comments: “We are holding the Industry Day to give young people interested in the performing arts a real insight into the types of activities they’ll take part in at College, as well as the various career opportunities open to them once they leave. Two of the dance workshops are being run by ex-students of the College who have progressed into successful careers within the performing arts industry, so we hope the event will encourage new talent to take their place on a performing arts course at Solihull College.”
Each workshop will last around 20 minutes, giving students the opportunity to try out all activities on offer.
The Industry Day is taking place at the College’s Blossomfield Campus between 10am and 1pm and places need to be booked in advance by Friday 24th February.
To book your place call Solihull College on 0121 678 7000.
Solihull College offers the Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts, with the Level 3 Diploma offered in two pathways – dance or acting, singing and dancing combined.
