As events continue for the Palace Theatre’s Centenary Year, for three days in September we step back in time and see the theatre transformed into the Palace Cinema in the 1930s.
A programme of films from the 1930s, chosen and presented by The White Bus, will play over the three events supported by Laurel and Hardy short comedies and cartoons from the era. The films commence on Thursday 13th Sept with The Mysterious Dr Fu Manchu followed by Secrets of a Secretary on Fri 14th Sept, rounding off the three days on Saturday 15th September is The Rainbow Trail.
Palace Theatre staff will be dressed in period costume of the 1930s & cinema patrons are encouraged to dress for the period as well. The foyer areas will be transformed into a 1930s cinema style and cocktail bar with all events carefully overseen by the cinema’s very own Theatre Commissioner who will see that everything runs in a 1930s ship-shape manner.
Tickets are on sale now via Southend Theatres Box Office and website.
