A motorcyclist has been jailed for five years and five months after causing the death of a six-year-old boy in Essex.
Joseph Ball, from Westcliff, was crossing London Road in the town with his mother, on 10 October 2011, when he was hit by the motorcycle.
Marek Kolton, 26, of Southend, pleaded guilty at Basildon Crown Court to causing his death by dangerous driving.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene and driving without insurance or a licence.
Kolton was jailed for four years and eight months for causing Joseph's death, plus nine months for the other driving offences.
He was disqualified from driving for 10 years.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "This was tragic case where the defendant drove dangerously at high speed causing a young boy to lose his life.
"Six-year-old Joseph Ball had everything to live for but his life was cut short by Mr Kolton's recklessness and total disregard for the law.
"Our thoughts are very much with Joseph's family at this difficult time."
