Just when you think you can relax after Christmas along comes the first ever Horror-on-Sea Film Festival! This brand new feast of the spooky, macabre and plain downright weird, is brought to all you horror fans out there by The White Bus, the folks behind the Southend-on-Sea Film Festival.
Launched at the recent Zombie Walk, Horror-on-Sea will be running from Friday to Sunday, 18th to 20th January, at the Park Inn Palace Hotel (on Southend seafront) and will be screening a fine selection of new independent horror films from the UK and across the globe. Directors and actors will be on hand to discuss their films and provide tips to budding filmmakers. There will be plenty of time for Q&As and the hotel’s bar, with its extensive views over Southend’s famous pier, will provide a convivial atmosphere where fans and filmmakers can relax together.
Screenings will take place in the hotel’s sumptuous ballroom, a superb setting for this major new horror film festival.
We’ve packed in 18 screenings. Tickets are £5, but a Weekend Pass is the best value deal. At just £50 this saves you a whopping £40 off the individual ticket prices. But hurry – these are limited to just 100!
On the Saturday afternoon, local filmmaker Pat Higgins will be conducting a Masterclass covering all aspects of horror filmmaking. This costs an extra £5 but will be invaluable to all budding filmmakers.
And that’s not all! For those of you who live outside Southend, or just want to fully immerse yourselves in the blood and thunder, the Park Inn Palace Hotel is offering special Festival rates: £60 for one night’s B&B (single or double) – or £120 for three nights B&B (single or double) so you can stay two nights and get the third free.
