Learn for Life 21st Adult Learners’ Week
Southend Adult Community College has over 25 ‘bitesize’ courses enrolling now!
Southend Adult Community College (SACC) in partnership with SBC Libraries is offering a range of bitesize taster courses throughout Southend this May in celebration of Adult Learners’ Week 2012.
Held annually in May and now in its 21st year, Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest and longest running learning campaign. It encourages thousands of adults, whatever their age and background, to give learning a go. Whether it’s learning for pleasure, catching up on skills missed out on at school or for getting a new job or promotion.
Although nationally the event runs for 1 week; SACC are offering a bumper filled fortnight of courses from Saturday 12th – Friday 25th May 2012. All courses have a small fee, starting at £2.50 and places are limited. SACC suggests you book early to avoid disappointment! Simply call 01702 445700 or visit www.southend-adult.ac.uk to enrol.
The one or two hour taster courses are a really easy and fun way to learn. There is a fantastic range of courses on offer including British Sign Language, Tai Chi, Facebook and many more!
Stephen Lay, Principal said “These activities are a great opportunity for people who have not visited the adult community college before to participate in a taster course that could lead to taking up as a new hobby in the Autumn. The cost of these classes has been kept to a bare minimum to enable as many new learners as possible to take part. I hope the programme will result in local residents discovering the fantastic facilities and staff the College has available at its centres.”
