Southend Airport Expansion gathers pace
The £35million expansion at Southend Airport is gathering pace. Work on the new passenger terminal is proceding fast and construction of the new link road has begun.
Meanwhile the new control tower is up and running and the £12million railway station is expected to open within weeks.
The £10million terminal building now has a roof and is covered in glazing. Passsengers will check in on the ground floor before going upstairs to walk through security and duty free. There will eventually be 3 shops and 2 cafes.
Roy Hill, Stobart Development's client representative said "Construction is going well and it's on time. The good weather is helping".
The new car park between the station and the terminal with 335 spaces has already been built complete with trees and landscaping.
