Visitors to Southend were warned not to touch a mysterious blue slime that has been seen washed up on the beaches.
The council has put up signs & the Environment Agency has taken samples of the blue semi solid deposits to investigate what it may be.
The mysterious blue substance was first reported on Jan 9th and although the authorities are unaware of what it is, they believe it is not dangerous.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency confirmed they had analysed the sample and discovered the substance to be a hydrocarbon based grease believed to have something to do with shipping, and has been floating in the estuary before being washed ashore.
I am the very proud owner of thebestofsouthend. My aim is to really shout about why Southend is so great & champion our local business owners who do a really great job!
