New step forward for St Neots Neighbourhood Plan.
District wide consultation by Huntingdonshire District Council.
Now in Progress.
Residents of St Neots are being asked to show their support for the published St Neots Neighbourhood Plan in a new district wide consultation.
The St Neots Neighbourhood Plan outlines how to protect our existing facilities and assets, improve local infrastructure and create new employment opportunities and community activities in the heart of St Neots.
The new consultation, taking place throughout Huntingdonshire over the next six weeks, enables interested parties from across the district to show their support to the proposals and offer any further feedback before the Plan is submitted for independent examination later this year.
Neighbourhood planning has been developed nationally to give communities more of a say in the development of their local area.
St Neots Town Council was one of the first Councils in the country to put together a proposal on behalf of the community, based on feedback from local people obtained at the end of last year and in a dedicated town wide consultation this spring.
Commenting on the plan, Town Clerk at St Neots Town Council, Ed Reilly, said: “We were inundated with feedback and suggestions during the consultation held in the town earlier this year and we are calling on all residents to once again show their support in this wider consultation that is now in progress. The St Neots Neighbourhood Plan is one step closer to becoming part of our local planning policy, meaning that the town itself will have a unique say in the development of our community for the first time. In our discussions earlier this year, we saw first-hand the passion that this community has for St Neots; involvement from residents in this new stage is crucial.”
The district wide consultation coordinated by Huntingdonshire District Council runs until Tuesday 9th September at 5pm.
The St Neots Neighbourhood Plan is displayed on the HDC website, with the ability for individuals, community groups and businesses to post online comments or feedback in response to the proposals outlined. The consultation page can also be accessed directly from the St Neots Town Council website at www.stneots-tc.gov.uk/stneotsplan.
St Neots Town Council will be promoting details of the ongoing consultation throughout the six week period, both in print and online, to ensure awareness and understanding is communicated across the town.
The Neighbourhood Plan was compiled by the St Neots Town Council’s Development and Growth committee in spring 2014 and presented to Huntingdon District Council in April 2014 by St Neots Councillors Louie Ruck and David Harty; alongside local MP Jonathan Djanogly.
Following the district wide consultation process, the St Neots Neighbourhood Plan will be submitted for independent examination. If approved, the plan will be subject to a referendum in the area it affects. If accepted, the plan will then form part of the local planning policy for St Neots.
I've lived in St Neots since I was 13, and boy how it's changed. I'm always looking to promote everything great in and around our town.
