ST.NEOTS SUMMER FESTIVAL AND DRAGON BOAT RACE!!
Saturday 9th August
Regatta Meadow, St Neots
12:00-21:00
Are you looking for a fun filled family day out with excellent entertainment from Dragon Boat races, live music and a variety of stalls?
Then come along to the St Neots Summer Festival and Dragon Boat Race at our Regatta Meadow, St Neots on Saturday 9th August - 12pm to 9pm.
The Charity Dragon Boat Challenge has been introduced for the second time to the annual St Neots Summer Festival.
Over 22 teams from local organisations have entered the challenge to raise money for our chosen charity Scope UK.
We would like to thank all teams on behalf of our chosen charity for sponsorship monies raised and in particular our Gold Sponsors, Life Plus Europe Ltd and Silver Sponsors, Bosch Rexroth for their additional contributions. Through the challenge we hope to raise a significant sum for Scope UK which exists to make this country a better place for disabled people and their families.
In addition to the spectacular races, which will take place alongside Regatta Meadow every 10 minutes throughout the day, there will be lots of family friendly entertainment and activities to keep you occupied from 12 noon and into the evening.
Music for the day will be provided by a number of acoustic and semi-acoustic performances by original artists and local songwriters from St Neots and all over Cambridgeshire.
This will be highlighted by a closing performance from The Simpletone which is a popular local band from St. Neots, who are recently taking part in battle of the bands in London this summer.
For families the festival boasts a diverse mix of activities guaranteed to keep the kids entertained.
The Children’s Zone offers face painting, arts and crafts and games. For the more adventurous there’s the opportunity to play on large inflatables and trampolines. Not forgetting the funfair, this is open all day and into the evening.
There is also the varied gift, craft and charity stalls to wonder around and our onsite licensed bar will be open from 12:00-21:00.
To top off an action packed day, spectators can look forward to a fantastic fireworks finale display provided by renowned Kimbolton Fireworks at 9pm.
Melissa Coe, Marketing and Events Coordinator at St Neots Town Council said: “The Dragon Boat Race is returning for the second year to our annual Summer Festival and it has been fantastic to see such positive responses from our local businesses who are taking part.
Some teams that took part last year are keen to return fight for the title as the new winners of the Dragon Boat event. We hope to make this a continuous event where we can promote one of our towns striving sports as well as our community of businesses. So bring the whole family to enjoy this jam packed day full of sporting excitement and festival activities! There is guaranteed to be something for everyone.”
Dan Clarke, Coach at St Neots Dragon Boat Team said: “We are delighted to be working with both the Town Council and Rotary Club for a second year to bring this great sport into the eye of our local people. The thrill of dragon boat racing cannot be compared to any other sport, it’s truly unique. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and after this event people will realise why. Our training sessions started last weekend and I am pleased to say a few Dragon Boat superstars were born!”
The St. Neots Summer Festival is organised by St. Neots Town Council, The Rotary Club of St Neots St Marys and St. Neots Dragon Boat Team.
Why not put this in your diary, and have a great day out with the family?
I've lived in St Neots since I was 13, and boy how it's changed. I'm always looking to promote everything great in and around our town.
