PLANS to build 1,000 new homes and a relief road in Stamford will go on display on 10th September in the Irescon Room at Stamford Arts Centre. This is the start of a three day consultation where townspeople can have a look at what's planned.
The plans are still in their very early stages, but Stamford Property Company is hoping to build the homes on 200 acres of farmland between Ryhall Road and Newstead Lane together with a primary school and a neighbourhood centre with shops and an office block .
There will be a public enquiry in December, as the company must persuade SKDC to have the landincluded in its development boundaries.
Stamford Town Council, Chamber of Trade and Civic Society will pass comment after discussing the plans at their next meetings over the coming few weeks.
Stamford has grown by 40% in the last 35 years from 16,000 in the 1960s to 22,000 now.
