Oakham Festival got off to a wet start last Saturday when I had a stall in Mill Street...
It was a shame, as many stallholders packed up at lunchtime when the showers hit, and I was then left stranded with no neighbours so unable to get to a loo or a drink! However, I had lots of visitors and had my best day this year (which isn't saying much). There was live music all day, with a variety of bands, some good, some bad, but all very entertaining. There were other entertainers too including acrobats and opera singers, it was really good fun.
This event is usually held in the Castle, but because it was booked for a wedding it was outside this year. I think I got more visitors by dint of being in Mill Street, but in some ways it was a shame as many stallholders would hav ebeen able to stave off the rain if they had been inside. I had the first outing for my new popup gazebo with four walls, so I was able to cope with it. Fortunately it wasn't too windy, and I was able to hold out!
