Three crashes over the bank holiday weekend on local roads have caused firefighters to warn drivers to take more care on the roads.
9.30pm on the Friday night saw a crash between Manton and Edith Weston, with a silver BMW crashing into a tree, leaving the front of the car in a ditch and the rest some 30 metres away down the road.
Earlier, there was a pile-up involving 5 cars on the A1 sliproad near the A606 just outside Stamford. Firefighters had to cut two women passengers from one of the cars, one of whom was airlifted to Ketting General. Attending the scene was Dr Tim Grey from the E. Midlands Immediat Care Schemed, firefighters from Oakham and Stamford AND a technical rescue team from Leicestershire's Suthern Station.
On the Saturday at 2.50am a black VW collided with a tree in Whissendine. Three people were injured - fire crews arrived to find two lying on the roadside and one sitting by the road. Two of the victims were
able to be treated at the scene - the third was taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The fire service are asking drivers to be aware that there are many collisions that occur on country roads at night.
