French travel agencies have now launched insurance to cover unwanted interruptions to holiday makers' sunshine. So if your holidays are spoiled by bad weather you could now be reimbursed! Wonder if that covers holidays in the UK or New Zealand (Land of the Long White Cloud)?
Holiday groups FranceLoc and Pierre at Vacances have started the policies which allow travellers to claim back part of their trip cost if they suffer at least four days of rain in any one week.
A statement from the group said "Aon France allows Pierre & Vacances to propose its clients with automatic reimbursement for part of their stay...if weather conditions don't meet expectations,"
The company will use satellite pictures from the French weather bureau to work out how much money insurers would receive.
Rain-spoilt holidays can now be worth up to £340 with the tourists being informed by phone, text or email if they are liable for compensation. The cheque will arrive a few days after they get home.l
Apparently in trial run last year 10% of those interested had seen enought rain on their holiday to make a claim.
