A lake in Switzerland was host to a giant perch, weighing in at 17.5lbs and measuring two feet three inches long.
The fish was finally speared on Sunday at Lac Majeur after six swimmers had been bitten by it over the weekend. Two of the bitten were treated at the local hospital for bite wounds which were up to four inches long.
Initially, police divers tried to capture the carnivorous fish with a net, but eventually they had to pursue it with a harpoon which managed to kill it.
The cooked fish was later served up to tourists at the lake.
It is, apparently, quite unusual for perch to bite humans. It's suspected that this one was suffering a hormonal imblance which made it more aggressive than usual.
