Unused Toilets to become fruit and veg shop
The derelict toilet block in Church Passage Oakham is to be converted into a fruit and vegetable shop.
Local charity 'Out of the Rut' has achieved permission to convert the building into a business enterprise.
The group, which is based in the village of Lyndon, provides learning and employment opportunities for those who have learning difficulties and mental health problems.
Vandalism caused the closure of the toilets near Cutts Close a few years ago, and they've recently been replaced with new facilities in the car park in Church Street.
The shop will sell organic food grown at Lyndon, and as well as providing an opportunity for employment for the learning disabled, it will be a good use for the building which has had no other uses put forward.
