On Friday 6th November four pupils from St Gilbert’s School received rewards for taking part in one of BigPinkHeart’s Respect events which ran for a week from the 12th October.
BigPinkHeart is a voluntary organisation committed to raising awareness about positive social behaviour and Respect. St Gilbert’s ran the event for all pupils from Foundation through to Key Stage 2, and all of the children had fun exploring the meaning of Respect. Foundation and KS1 pupils were asked to draw a picture to describe what the word RESPECT means to them, whilst KS2 pupils took the word R.E.S.P.E.C.T and described their understanding of what it means as an acronym.
“The children loved the activities and were all so excited to be involved in the competitions. At St Gilbert’s we foster an ethos of respecting and valuing everyone so it was a real pleasure to get involved”
BigPinkHeart members then judged the artwork, and the winning pupils were presented with their prizes by Aidan Haylock of local Design Agency 23ccc Creative at a Success Assembly at the school on 6th November.
Aidan said: “This was an extremely difficult task as all the entries were of such a high standard!” However, he and the BigPinkHeart team had to find four winners and those pupils were:
Joshua Roberts
Olivia Ellson
Lillie Robb
Freya Sismey
Joshua Roberts’ and Olivia Ellson’s designs will be made into a bookmark to be published in Stamford Library and other venues in and around Stamford. BigPinkHeart is also looking at publishing Lillie and Freya’s work.
Sharon Clephane, founder of BigPinkHeart said “We would like to thank St Gilbert’s School for taking part and making this such a worthwhile event.”
