Like lots of people it now transpires, I thought I'd go and take a look at the new Waitrose store in Stamford on its opening day - today. I'd heard there were some good offers going on and I'd seen the giant scarecrow signs
So after my stint invigilating at the Victorial Hall for the Rutland Open Studios taster exhibition, I popped along there, about 4pm
I was turned away by two men in fluorescent yellow jackets and hard hats. There were orange plastic barriers they were moving across the entrance, and they held up their hands to me. It was raining so I didn't bother to ask any questions, just drove on. I tried to peer into the car park as I went past to see if it was indeed full, but couldn't get a good look, so I can only assume that it was SO popular that they had closed the car park - unless something else more 'interesting' was going on.
So I shall have to wait till tomorrow before I can report back on the new store - which from the outside anyway looks very nice!
