Street performance or Busking is the practice of performing in public places and whether it's musicians or actors Stratford upon Avon doesn't seem to be lacking in them. The success of street performing depends on the performers creativity, originality, talent and ability to capture people's attention. Many entertainers who play in the town are colourful, exciting, accomplished and great fun. They are enjoyed by the hundreds of people who casually walk by them every week.
Without the street entertainment Stratford wouldn't be the same. It gives the town atmosphere and personality. I could stand there until nightfall and watch or listen to them, but the part of busking I love the most is the big crowds of happy people having fun. Busking is a breath of fresh air. It's so simple yet so important to Stratford.
A lot of people think anyone can hit the street and put on a show. However, I believe it takes a great skill to entertain people, and a massive amount of courage to play or sing in front of a busy street, where every little note is amplified by a hundred watchful eyes.
Street entertainers are often overlooked but they are a huge part of the town and are part of the reason Stratford is such a beautiful place to be. So head down to Henley Street or the River Front and show support for one of the many reasons this town is so beautiful.
