I’m really picky about my Sunday roasts and the crown did not disappoint definitely one of my top 3 places to go for a tasty flavoursome dinner . There was plenty on our plates and lovey and fresh.we even left some . The fresh baked bread is also amazing . We didn’t have dessert but that’s because we were so full up . Thanks again . We will definitely be returning . P.s we drive 30 minutes to get here just for the roast .

Planning this outing for 54 ramblers took numerous emails and Lucy could not have been more helpful. On the day, 37 members were served their pre-selected lunches in a reserved part of the dining area by efficient and cheerful staff. The food was of a good standard and was praised by several in the group. Meanwhile the picnickers enjoyed the use of the patio area behind the Crown. The whole visit was a great success and I would highly recommend this fine pub as a base for anyone wishing to use the many footpaths in this gorgeous area of Suffolk.

A very late Sunday lunch but still busy. Excellent service and good selection on menu. Wine list good as well along with well kept draught beers.
Highly recommended - worth the journey

Sunday lunch for 4. What a day to chose ,a post wedding party and a birthday party too. Didn't matter though as the meal we had was fresh,so well cooked and served just to order. The girls were terrific and a credit to the Pub. Our girl, that served the drinks at the bar, even gave great advice on the gins on offer and what mixed well. Even though there was a lot going on we had a great lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere. Great food, great service, great venue. Highly recommend The Crown 👍.

Super lunch at The Crown. Lovely ambiance and friendly and efficient staff. The set menu was excellent value at £14.50 for 2 courses. My husband had a superb piece of hake and my chilli beef was delicious. The pub was very busy for a Tuesday lunchtime so we would recommend getting there early. We will be going again and are happy to recommend.

OMG! If you’ve not had a pizza at The Hartest Crown then get ya arse there!!!!!!!!!
Bloody delicious 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋Cooked to 👌 perfection 😊
£8 and it’s gorgeous From the time we arrived last evening, greeted with a lovely warm welcome at the pizza shed\ bar by two very happy staff ‘Ben & Maxine’ we felt very relaxed. Ben took our order and nothing was to much trouble, Maxine the pizza chef was very obliging with our choices on our pizza. Given a ‘buzzer’ we then went into the Crown for a drink whilst we waited for our pizza. Again extremely smiley staff ‘Fiona’ greeted us asking what we’d like to drink and said we could sit at any table that hadn’t already been reserved. We found a lovely comfortable table with large cozy benches to relax and enjoy our drinks whilst we waited.
It wasn’t long at all before our ‘buzzer’ alerted us to let us know our pizzas were ready! Well.. just delicious!
We had pudding too..... sticky toffee pud with honeycomb ice cream for me 😋 .. mixture of homemade ice cream for him 😋Yeah..... puds are good too! Thank you chef!
So authentic with fresh ingredients.Thank you to all the staff at the Crown 😘
I believe the owner is called ‘Dave’ ... ‘Well Dave you’ve got it just right! And I’m sure you already know, but your staff are perfect, look after them’We’ll be back ❤️❤️

Highly recommended for the excellent quality of the food. The bread served warm and in a bag. Nice little touch. The starters were served quickly. The Lamb was excellent and so were the garlic mushrooms. Our group had the roast beef and the pork. A great Sunday roast. Huge Yorkshire puddings. The vegetables were great. I liked that extra gravy was served with your food. The only reason I did not mark 5 out of 5. Was the huge variation of service. From one waitress being excellent to others that were very poor. That however didn't effect our meal but was very noticeable.

We were a large group on a summer office trip. Beautiful pub, lovely garden. Good choice of wines and beers at the bar. We found the dining room a bit hot (mid summer warm evening) and with a large group the room we were in was a bit loud due to lots of bare walls, so people had to raise voices to compete to be heard.
The food was generous to a fault; with 3 courses, after wine and beer we were all stuffed, almost uncomfortably, so no complaints on portion size as some have said. The food arrived quickly, hot and was tasty enough. I noticed however that many of the meals were deep fried, with breadcrumb crusts; perhaps it was chance on our choices, but it felt like the chef had a deep fat fryer for Christmas and was eager to show it off!
With generous portions, deep fried there were many calories. My whitebait was deep fried in breadcrumbs, crispy and tasty. My duck was breadcrumbed and deep fried, big portion, getting repetitive, but thankfully the chocolate and ice cream pudding was not battered or deep fried. I would go back, and choose more carefully, avoiding deep fried.
On a sunny warm evening, with friends and preferably a driver, hard to beat.

Firstly, the pub and grounds are really lovely. And the area the pub is situated is in a gorgeous part of England. Fair selection of beers and a huge beer garden to use during the warm months. I was very impressed.
We went to eat there on a Saturday night mid June. The food on the menu was very appealing and we were excited with the menu choices. Although the food was nice in my opinion it is slightly overpriced. My sirloin steak although cooked as I asked and indeed juicy and tender was not very big and for £22 I expected a larger cut. My wife's bream nicoise was also very good but again the portion size not great.Did it spoil our visit? Well considering we came from London we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. But i would reiterate portion sizes could have been better.
Total bill for 4 adults as follows: 3 drinks each, starter main and dessert £230. It depends on your view as to whether that's a fair price but ultimately we were in a pub even if it was a posh one and that's why I thought the bill a tad OTT.
To finish I would go there again, even if just for a drink as the setting is lovely.

Went with friends for Sunday roast and was blown away. Lovely surroundings, excellent service and the best roast for miles. Melt in the mouth pink roast beef with crispy roasties with fluffy insides, a massive yorkie, generous serving of parsnips, carrots, cabbage and leeks. Delicious gravy-extra jug provided without having to ask & pokey horseradish. For those not wanting roast there are big meal alternatives and interesting sarnies. Lovely garden to chill out in. Lived up to it's excellent reputation.

A typical rural pub with a great choice and great service. Very busy and parking challenging, however, good service and food wonderful!

I went to the Crown for dinner with my friend and it exceeded all expectations. It was absolutely fantastic! The staff were polite and attentive. The food was delicious. My asparagus and wild garlic risotto was incredible and would definitely recommend. My dessert (see photo attached) was the most delicious brownie; it topped off the evening! Would definitely recommend if you are in the area or you are planning somewhere to eat that is relaxed and well priced. Will definitely be returning!

We found this place by accident and decided to stop for lunch , I had a fish finger sandwich and my husband had pork sandwich, we had chips on side
We sat in the large garden, which has play area for children. The food was lovely and served quickly
After lunch we were able to take a short stroll along the stream at the end of the garden

It was our first visit to the Crown with our Suffolk friends and we had a lovely Sunday lunch! There’s plenty of non-Sunday lunch options if you have veggies or fussy eaters so we all found something we liked from the well devised menu. Service, whilst a bit slow was friendly and reasonably efficient.
My roast beef was great, despite being served quite pink, but it was very tender and tasty. Served with a generous portion of veg and extra gravy, which was much appreciated. We didn’t have starters or wine, so can’t comment on those, but I can recommend the treacle tart... it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had!
It didn’t quite get 5 stars due to the slightly slow service and my over cooked Yorkshire pud, but we would definitely visit again when in the area.

Four of us paid a visit Saturday lunchtime and were impressed by the pub and surroundings, the staff were all helpful and polite but the mixed feelings came with the food,We all decided to go for the set menu and started with the pork fritters which were fine, myself and my brother in law went for the chicken for main course and that was very nice, my wife opted for the Thai fish cakes with sweet and sour sauce ,sadly these were pretty tasteless and bore no resemblance Thai food and the sauce was not just sour but rancid and inedible,My sister went for the curried vegetable pie but this looked almost burnt and the pastry was very hard. The desserts however were another story and the sticky toffee pudding was heavenly. Will definitely go again as i think we just made a couple of wrong choices.

A fantastic lunch with my Mother and Sister yesterday. A late afternoon booking didn’t detract from the high quality and consistent freshly cooked roast lunches. The staff coped professionally and despite the numbers of people enjoying their food, managed to keep the atmosphere relaxed.
Thank you all for an excellent experience, well worth the 1 hr + drive to reach you. See you soon.

Visited here with our 2 children and their grandparents. This is a place we visit on a regular basis and usually love their food! We all had the Sunday Roast, there was plenty of food, the most delicious beef and in such a lovely setting. Only downside was the children’s ice-cream; one tiny scoop served in an espresso cup (so you can imagine how small it was!). Children always look forward to the desserts but their little faces were so disappointed. Even if it had a wafer in it to make it feel a bit more special would have helped! For a family friendly pub I think this was a poor oversight.

Been meaning to go to this pub for a while but never got to it. Well it was worth the wait. We found it a very good setting in a village and set back with beautiful garden. Walked in and straight away felt at ease. The staff behind the bar were very friendly and helpful. Showed us to our table and we sat looking at menu and the staff was excellent very helpful and friendly. When the meal came it was great well worth it. Didn’t feel rushed in any way just felt at home. Definitely recommend this pub to anyone for just a day out in the sun outside or a drink inside and well a plus for the meal.
Thank you for a friendly experience will be back soon.

Wanted to comment on the service aswell as food. I have just purchased a restaurant and love to see staff working as hard as Charlotte did with us this evening. Food was great and the bread is unreal! Should sell it wholesale....

14 of us met up at the Crown to celebrate my daughters birthday. I have to say the whole experience was excellent, the manageress/hostess was superb in making sure we were very well looked after. The food was first rate, from the kids meals through to the beautifully cooked Sirloin of Beef. Plentiful vegetables, fresh water ...and decent wine.
A really excellent venue for a proper Sunday lunch.

We moved to Suffolk recently and was looking for a nice local pub when only by accident I drove past it and thought to look it up online. Food looked great and the pub seemed warm and inviting.
So yesterday we decided to pay a visit and have a dinner. And I’m glad we did! What a lovely pub! Food was superb! From start to finish. Only negative was that service was a bit slow but it definitely didn’t spoil the experience. We will be back for Sunday roast next week. Can’t wait! What a gem only three miles away from home. Perfect!
