A great pub in a good location with a huge garden and some playspace for the kids and dogs allowed inside as well.
The food is superb with generous helpings. There were six of us meeting up for a Sunday lunch and between us we had roast beef (done to your taste whether pink or well done), roast pork and chicken. Huge Yorkshire puddings and a great selection of vegetables to boot. We had to make some room for a pudding though which the others had whilst I had some lovely cheeses (which had been allowed to come to room temperature as I ordered it right at the start of the meal). Good service throughout as well.

Wow! Wonderful, fresh, and flavourful food!!! This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a LONG TIME. We ordered bread with garlic butter to start, and the loaves were fresh out of the oven - they melted in your mouth! I had a feather blade steak with peppercorn sauce and my husband had one of the pies. We both left full and happy! Plus a sweet pup named Tilly who came to visit a few times throughout our meal!

Visited for an anniversary lunch. The menu must have changed as we all struggled to find something that we really liked. Normally we are stuck for choice, but the menu is quite fussy now. Several fish dishes which aren’t to everyone’s taste and the bread options are a bit odd, toasted ciabattas instead of nice granary breads etc for the sandwiches. Given that chicken is the most popular meat, there were limited options. No roast / butterfly chicken etc and the chicken curry was £18 which is way too expensive. Service was ok, although perhaps a little slow for our food to arrive (1 hour) considering 2 of us had sandwiches and the restaurant was fairly empty by the time we’d ordered. The food itself was really good, but like I said the choices are just too fussy for a lunchtime menu. Minor gripe, please serve food on a plate and not those stupid boards! Sorry to say we won’t be rushing back now, which is a shame as we’d visited several times before.

Nice pub, with good food (brilliant sticky toffee pudding). Good beers on tap, and best of all, a football pitch in the large beer garden!

The best of Sunday lunches - great service in a lovely location. My roast chicken et al was all you could ever want from such a dish. My husband's roast beef (pink, melt-in-the-mouth tender), ditto. Special note must be made of the wine list - we opted for the 1300 Andeluna Malbec, which rounded off the meal with perfection, but it was difficult to choose from so many great choices. Highly recommend.

Came here for my birthday and had a great meal. We both had the fish and chips but my partner had a half portion which they did for half the price. Food was delicious and the peas were very minty. Would definitely come back if we’re in the area.

Cozy country pub with log fires, friendly staff, comfortable decor and a nice golden retriever not looking for handouts. What more could you want?! Oh and an excellent range of beers, 🍻 many home brewed!

Absolutely fantastic meal from starters through to desserts. My wife and I went for a Sunday evening, service was quick, no long waits for any course at all. The Crown is definitely one of our favourites.

I attended a networking event and lunch today at the Crown. I came with a list of allergies and intolerances and Lucy along with her team were more than happy to accommodate me and my dietary needs. As someone who avoids eating out due to this it was a breathe of fresh air to be able to eat out and enjoy lovely food, drinks and company in a beautiful setting. Thank you again Lucy and team from Anna @ Salisbury Virtual Assistance

We arrived at the Crown, guiltily, fifteen minutes late on a miserable Saturday afternoon. It didn't matter. The welcome we received was as warm as the fire the restaurant's hearth.
And thus began a lovely relaxed lunch for two humans, carefully watched by Molly, our border terrier.
There's a changing range of specials, plus a main menu which lets you choose some main dishes in starter size if you prefer. We wanted something hearty, so I went for ham, eggs and chips (the fried eggs oozily perfect); PJ went for fish and chips (great portion size - not too big; not too small).
Then there were puddings - a chocolate sticky toffee pudding and a light blood orange panna cotta. Both were superb.
We also loved the service - attentive, friendly, with nothing too much trouble.
The Crown is part of a small chain of pubs, a micro-brewery (Brewshed) and a terrific wine shop in Bury St Edmunds (Vino Gusto). All are run in a way that shows a core team who know their customers and aim to serve them well.
That's what we experienced at the Crown today.
We had arrived under heavy clouds and miserable weather. We left feeling the world felt a little brighter. Recommended.

Really delicious food; helpful and friendly staff. They did kids’ portions of the main meals even though they’re not on the menu.

Great local pub and we love taking our dog with us however today my partner was bitten by a Jack Russel who's owner completely ignored and didn't even apologised for his dogs bad behaviour. Members of staff were oblivious to what had happened. We are very much advocate dogs in pubs, but they must be well behaved and trained, what if on this occasion it was a child who was bitten.

We enjoyed the food and the service, both excellent. The only thing we were surprised about is the fact that they only take bank cards, no cash, worth knowing if you are going there.and normally pay cash. There is ample parking, which is always a plus.
