As summer nears, promising better weather and enjoyable days out, Sudbury's Quay Theatre is set to offer a series of outstanding shows that appeal to a wide audience. This season features notable names such as Tom Robinson, Louis De Bernières, and Mark Thomas, along with a variety of shows that cater to different tastes.
Among the highlights are dramas like "The Man Who Left The Titanic", which tells the story of the White Star Line's managing director's escape from the sinking ship, and "The Olive Boy", exploring a teenager's struggles with family loss. Helen Anker will portray Audrey Hepburn in "The Essence of Audrey", and "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde will be performed by Dot Productions.
For younger audiences, Nicky Trix's "Magic and Mayhem" show promises fun, while a music hall production from London's Players Theatre offers entertainment for those seeking nostalgia with "A Little Of What You Fancy". The season also includes performances by mind reader Alex McAleer and comedian Louise Atkinson.
Music lovers can enjoy tributes to bands like The Corrs, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, and artists such as Tina Turner, while musical theatre fans can look forward to "The Show Must Go On". Gaelforce brings Celtic folk rock in July, and "Let Us Take You To Paris" pays homage to French icons Serge Gainsbourg and Edith Piaf.
The Quay Theatre continues its Drama and Live Cinema Season Tickets, providing discounts for bookings of multiple shows. It also runs youth drama groups, the Quay Comets and Quay Novas, encouraging young talent.
As a charity, the theatre relies on community support to offer a broad range of professional and community-produced events. It invites locals to join its Friends Scheme, which offers exclusive benefits for an annual fee, enhancing supporters' connection to the theatre.
Additionally, the Quay 100 Club allows members to support the theatre further and win cash prizes in monthly draws, with a special prize at Christmas. The theatre is also open to developing Corporate Sponsorship Packages tailored to businesses' needs.
The Quay Theatre encourages the local community to support and enjoy its diverse season of events, highlighting the importance of community involvement in sustaining a rich cultural offering in Sudbury.
