The Quay Theatre launches its Autumn Programme

The Quay Theatre is delighted to announce its brand new Autumn programme of events, so with the leaves turning and the nights drawing in, the theatre is ready to warm up your evenings with an exciting line-up of events from September through December. Whether you're a theatre aficionado or simply looking for something new to enjoy, this season's programme is brimming with something for everyone.

A Frightfully Fun 'Spooky Season'

For the first time ever, The Quay is embracing the Halloween spirit with a dedicated 'Spooky Season'. This collection of shows is sure to send shivers down your spine, with the main attraction being the eighth annual Horrorthon Film Festival – strictly for those over 18.

But don’t worry, there's plenty for the younger audience too. Dame Dolly, making her debut in Sudbury, will be delighting children with her very own 'Spooktacular' towards the end of October, complete with a fancy dress competition. Look out for the special 'Spooky Season' logo in the programme to keep track of all the eerie offerings.

Laughter to Light Up the Longer Nights

Comedy lovers, rejoice! This autumn, The Quay brings you two top-notch comedy acts that are sure to lift your spirits. The legend that is Tony Slattery (& my all time favourite member of Who’s Line is It Anyway) returns to the stage with his new show Resuscitated, packed with his signature improvisation.

If you prefer your humour with a touch of medical insight, don't miss Ed Patrick's Catch Your Breath: The Secret Life of an Anaesthetist, where he delivers laughs with a surgical precision.

A Musical Feast

Music enthusiasts are in for a treat as well. Martin Turner and Robbie Gladwell return to The Quay, joined by newcomers The Grace Smith Trio and Archie Churchill-Moss. And for those with a taste for the classics, October brings a special performance by internationally acclaimed pianist James Lisney, who will be gracing the stage with An Evening of Chopin. Whether you’re into folk, jazz, or classical music, there’s a concert to suit your tastes.

Drama on the High Seas and Beyond

The drama offerings this season are rich with variety and depth. Eastern Angles returns with The Deep, a gripping tale of a fisherman stranded at sea, while Mettle, by Nicholas Collett, pays tribute to the brave souls of the World War II Atlantic Convoys. There's also plenty of innovative theatre on offer, including Frankenstein (On a Budget), a musical comedy from Lamphouse Theatre, and the revival of Hancock’s Half Hour – The Lost TV Episodes, brought to life by Hambledon Productions.

Special Offers and Treats

For those who enjoy a good deal, The Quay Theatre continues to offer its popular Season Ticket savings. Book three shows and save 10%, four shows for 15%, or five or more for a 20% discount – a great way to make the most of your theatre experience. And to top off your visit, why not indulge in the new Charcuterie Bamboo Boat, launched in partnership with Painters At The Angel? It’s the perfect pre-show treat.

The Quay Theatre's Autumn season is set to be one of its best yet. Whether you’re a regular or a newcomer, there's something to enjoy. As Theatre Manager Krystle Charton puts it, "We’re excited to welcome you to our first 'Spooky Season', a mix of the spooky, scary, gothic, and just plain fun. Our team, with the invaluable support of our volunteers, has put together a programme that truly offers something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon!"

So, mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and get ready to experience the magic of autumn at The Quay Theatre. Tickets are already on sale, so don’t miss out – book yours today and support your amazing theatre!
