We are a friendly, inclusive village school, educating children aged four to eleven and committed to the well-being of every child in our care. We are passionate about making sure each pupil achieves their potential and goes beyond expectations whenever possible. As a Church school, we have close links with our local Church community, and the ethos of a caring and Christian community is very close to our hearts, underpinning all we do.
Our aim is Achieving Potential Together in a school where; We Care; We Believe; We Strive; We Aspire
We combine a nurturing environment with a commitment to academic excellence and are striving to equip all our children with a solid foundation of skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence which they can draw upon as they move through their educational journey.
We are proud of the happy, settled and cooperative environment evident in the school, which is underpinned by the positive working relationships between pupils, staff and all other stakeholders. For us, being a small school is an asset: we can focus wholly on each child as an individual and enable each child to flourish.
Our school is based in an un-spoilt rural environment and although small has access to a number of excellent facilities. The school building itself is light and airy, and we pride ourselves on our creative and informative classroom environments. We have recently installed new play equipment in the school at a cost of £10,000 and use the Village Hall and the large recreation field for sports and other activities. We are involved in a number of regular sports tournaments, school trips, and activity weeks, which supports our commitment to provide a broad, balanced, and creative curriculum for every child. There are also a variety of extra-curricular clubs run by members of staff, external teachers and coaches, many of which take place outside school hours or at lunchtime.
In early 2019, we received a disappointing Ofsted result. Senior staff and governors immediately worked together to put in place an achievable plan to restore the school to its previous "Outstanding” status with the support of the Local Authority and the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. This plan is now bearing fruit and we are very pleased with the progress being made due to all the hard work of all concerned.
A new leadership team and excellent new staff are in place. With these and the continued support and loyalty of existing parents and governors, assessed progress is steady and the school remains a welcoming and stable environment in which children thrive.
We would encourage all prospective parents to visit our school so that we may show you why we think you’ll love our school as much as we do, and how it will give your child every opportunity to achieve their potential.
