Read some of the reviews on here which to be fair are harsh. Took my family here for an afternoon Sunday lunch yesterday and have to say it was top food with excellent service. The manager was welcoming on arrival and the Roast Beef was of high quality and complimented with all the trimings. My children enjoyed real chicken breast goujons again decent food which my kids enjoyed. Credit to the staff here, thank you for the service and welcome and despite some of the reviews before this pub is well worth a visit.

Good food and excellent beers, at a reasonable price. Good selection of food on offer. Staff coped well despite the local flooding that day.

Having not been to eat at the Crown for many years, now we are 'after children' we thought we'd revisit some old haunts to sample what they have to offer. This one was a very pleasant surprise! It has been completely re-vamped and was unrecognizable inside from the last time we were there - very open and spacious yet managing to retain a homely feel. There was an open fire burning in the fire place; people sitting at tables eating; people sitting round the bar chatting; and a general air of bonhomie. From the moment we walked in and ordered a drink at the bar, we were made to feel welcome and the staff went out of their way to be friendly, helpful and courteous without being pushy - in particular, Jessica and Honey??? who somehow managed to strike a balance between making us feel like old friends without being too familiar. Having been shown to our table, we chose our food from an interesting menu with some slightly unusual dishes as well as more familiar ones, and we weren't disappointed. One of us had mussels and the other goats cheese and fig salad to start. We then couldn't decide between featherblade steak and Barnsely chop cooked on the open fire, so opted to have one each which we shared. I can honestly say they were both superb and if asked again, I wouldn't be able to choose. All in all, it was a very pleasant evening, with excellent food and excellent service.

Beatifully renovated, historic pub, located off the Green in Hartest. Good car parking. The gents toilets were the best I have ever seen in a pub.
Staff were friendly & attentive, even to a stranger. The restaurant area is off the open-plan bar area, but you can eat anywhere. There is also an extensive garden & patio area. The atmosphere is of an village local, with a mixed clientele of couples, families etc.
The food was excellent standard, with several specials. The rabbit platter was delicious. As you would expect from this pub group, a great selection of beers.

Just returned home from a wonderful meal at The Crown with our two children and their grandparents. Us adults had the roast beef (beautiful flavour, and very tender), roast potatoes were second to none, and the vegetables were so tasty (the crushed carrots with butter tasted out of this world)! We were given the option to ask for more veg and gravy (which we did) and thoroughly enjoyed every bit. The children's portions were generous and the chicken strips and fish fingers appeared home made. My husband and father in law enjoyed the Brewshed best shandy and the pudding board is a must with six desserts to share 🍮🍰🍧🍪🍯. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was enjoyable and I agree with a previous comment about the toilets, I was very impressed too!🚾 We finished off our meal out in the garden where the children enjoyed the play area and we enjoyed a walk down to the stream at the end of the gardens. One thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch, thank you all.🍝

We went on a thursday evening and had an excellent meal with a good price, nice and friendly service. Lovely warm fresh bread for starter. The building is lovely to look at and they have a good outdoor play area for my kid.

I wish myself and 6 friends had arrived earlier and stayed longer, but we had a driver without sat nav. But although really late, we enjoyed the choice of the full menu and the real ales, all excellent, but we were on a schedule so could not fully enjoy our visit. I will be back ASAP!

Went here on Friday for my works Christmas party.
Myself like many others had never heard of The Crown nor the village itself before. The pub had really nice decor and you can tell it was looked after.
The Christmas menu was an interesting selection, but the food itself was really good. The portioning was the right amount, the waiting staff were fun to joke and banter with.Would come again

We visited The Crown last night and were incredibly happy with our meal and the service we received. the pub/restaurant seemed busy and popular, and when we started our meal we completely understood why! The waitresses were excellent and very helpful, the food was delicious, the surroundings and decor are very stylish, the menu had lots of lovely choices, there was a roaring firein our dining area (nice touch!). I can highly recommend the Christmas Scotch Egg for starters, although I can't imagine it'll be on the menu for much longer! Hopefully they'll bring it back next year though! Definitely worth a trip out to this village!
