Andrew Mitchell, the Royal Town’s Member of Parliament who is the patron of the local Home-Start branch has held a meeting with members of the core team, Jackie Redding, Carol Davies, Sarah Fisher and Vivian Ellis.

The purpose of his visit to their new headquarters on Walsall Road was to thank the team for their hard work and for helping 80 families in need of assistance throughout the Royal Town and beyond.

Home-Start in Sutton Coldfield has 19 volunteers and are on the lookout for new supports and helpers. Sarah Fisher the manager of Home-Start here in the Royal Town, underlined that they needed to increase their capacity to help those in need and that all who came forward to assist as volunteers would receive accredited training as part of their work, which is generously supported by the Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust.

Following the meeting Andrew Mitchell said “I would like to thank all those involved in Home-Start for the valuable work which they do in the Royal Town and encourage others who might be willing to join up as volunteers. This is also a great way to begin a career in social care, due to the support and accredited training that volunteers will receive”.

Commenting, Sarah Fisher said “Home-Start Birmingham North West is one of Birmingham’s fastest growing support services for families across the city.  We are, more than ever, supporting very complex family circumstances. We’re pleased to have the continued support of MP Andrew Mitchel who will be working closely with us to ensure we continue to grow and expand.”
