Sutton Coldfield is set to celebrate the anniversary of Black Sabbath with the launch of a new book written by Birmingham music legends, Big Bear Music, at an exclusive event next month.
Penned by Big Bear Music’s founder Jim Simpson, 'Don’t Worry ‘Bout The Bear' is the story of the label’s incredible rise to success and all of the memorable moments along the journey, including their work with the renowned Black Sabbath during the band’s early days.
Hosted by Waterstones on Saturday 15 February, the free event will coincide with the anniversary of the release of legendary Birmingham group Black Sabbath’s ground-breaking first album 50 years ago.
Music-lovers can expect a lively discussion of the book, characters and events in it, as well as a Q&A session with Jim and his brother Ron Simpson.
To mark the occasion, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID is offering locals the chance to win £50 Pizza Express vouchers to enjoy on the day of the event as well as a signed copy of the book, simply by liking and sharing the event on Facebook.
Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID manager, said: “We’re honoured to host the launch of “Don’t Worry ‘Bout The Bear” at Waterstones Sutton Coldfield.
“We’re passionate about supporting Birmingham’s creative scene, holding annual events like Sutton Coldfield’s Month of Music, Sutton Has Musical Talent and the Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell Jazz Festival in partnership with Big Bear Music throughout the town centre.
“Renowned across the Birmingham music scene, Jim has a fascinating story to tell, and we’re certain it will be an unmissable evening for any music lovers throughout the area.”
Jim Simpson added: “We are incredibly excited to celebrate the launch of “Don’t Worry ‘Bout The Bear” next month. The book covers a wide range of Big Bear Music’s achievements across the years, together with the occasional disaster and even the odd brush with the criminal underworld!
“We hope the community will join us for an exciting evening of conversation, history and all things rock & roll.”
