St Giles Hospice are holding an exclusive event to launch their March of the Elephants trail, with businesses, high net-worth individuals and a special guest in attendance. For 10 weeks the streets and parks of Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield, will be home to a series of intricately decorated elephant sculptures, each designed by local, regional and national artists, designers and illustrators – both well-known favourites and newly emerging talent.

The official launch event will take place on Wednesday 24th May at The Hub at St Mary’s, Lichfield, and will bring businesses, schools and local communities together to celebrate what will be the region’s largest iconic art sculpture trail and mass participation community project.

The launch event begins with welcome drinks and canapes at 6:00 pm, followed by a grand unveiling at 06:45 pm (with a special celebrity guest in attendance!), giving attendees the chance to hear all about the fantastic trail and how they can get involved. Following this, there will be ample opportunity for networking, drinks and conversation from 7:15 – 8:00 pm.

The trail will provide an opportunity to bring businesses, schools and community groups together to increase community engagement, boost economic impact and attract new visitors and tourism to the region. Each sculpture is sponsored by a business or individual and has its own memories to make, many showcasing our community’s wealth of artistic talent whilst celebrating the vibrance, culture and creativity that the region has to offer.

Snowdome, in Tamworth, will be sponsoring an elephant on the trail, and are looking forward to attending the launch event to make the most of the networking opportunities available.

Dan Norgrove, Marketing Manager at Snowdome, said: “We’re really excited and proud to be supporting St Giles Hospice as the presenting partner for their March of the Elephants trail. The work that St Giles does is truly incredible and they’re a really special asset to have within our community.

“I’d encourage any businesses who are interested in the trail to jump at the chance of getting involved. It’s going to be a brilliant focal point within our communities and local areas, as well as offering the opportunity to build long-term partnerships with St Giles Hospice and other local businesses in the area.”

Louise Lewis, Events and Project Manager at St Giles, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming local people and businesses to our March of the Elephants launch event. It will be an incredibly exciting evening as we unveil the first of our elephants designed for the trail, offering an exclusive sneak peek for our guests in attendance.

“We will also have a special celebrity guest, stamping the trail with their ‘gold’ seal of approval on the night, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat with friends and members of the local community. It really will be an evening to remember, we can’t wait to welcome everybody and share in the launching of this elephant-astic trail!”

March of the Elephants is an exciting new adventure for St Giles, and a fantastic way for the hospice to celebrate over 40 years of providing care to local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness. The vital funds and awareness raised by the trial will ensure that St Giles are able to continue to provide their services for those who need them the most, for the next 40 years, and beyond.
