The Royal Sutton Fun Run has been deemed a triumph by all involved, including fundraisers, participants, representatives of charities, voluntary organisations and commercial partners.
Celebrations for this year’s event took place at the flagship showroom of main sponsor Cookes Furniture.
James Pike, Fun Run director announced that £90,103 was raised this year and distributed to 85 organisations nominated by participants.
The starting horn was also sounded for the 2023 Fun Run which, next year, will return to its traditional date at the end of spring half term – Sunday, 4 June. James Pike, also managing director of Cookes Furniture, hailed the ongoing success of the event after a ‘difficult few years’ due to Covid restrictions hampering the organisation.
James said: “It was a pleasure to bring together some of the fundraisers, charity beneficiaries, sponsors, and event partners to mark the announcement of the minimum fundraising amount for this year’s event and sound the starting horn for the 2023 event which will return in June next year.
“After an extremely challenging period throughout Covid, without the support of partners, participants and spectators, a key day in the annual calendar of Royal Sutton Coldfield just wouldn’t happen and we are looking forward again to welcoming thousands of people to participate and raise money for charity in 2023.”
The minimum total now distributed to charities and voluntary organisations chosen by participants since the first event in 1982 has reached £4.92million.
