Those living with dementia, their friends and family will be able to watch the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical film CAT’S in a safe and friendly environment, tailored to the needs of those suffering from dementia.
Empire Sutton Coldfield as joined partnership with the Sutton Bid and Town Council to facilitate an event for residents, community groups and businesses who want to do more for local people living with dementia.
At 11am on Thursday 26th March 2020, Empire Sutton Coldfield will host its first Dementia-Friendly Screening.
Over 3,400 people in Sutton Coldfield aged 65+ have been diagnosed with dementia – almost one in five aged over 65. The Alzheimer’s Society believes that many more in the town are living with dementia without a diagnosis and becoming a Dementia-Friendly Community will be proof that more is being done to help people with dementia and their carers feel safe, supported and able to remain involved in community life.

We are really pleased to be working with Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council and Sutton Bid on this new project which will welcome people affected by dementia and will allow them to continue to enjoy quality leisure time and watch films.
The film will be tailored to their needs with the lights left on low, no adverts or trailers and the audience are allowed to move around freely if they like or sing along to any songs should they wish to.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served half hour prior to the film starting to give people a chance to meet and socialise with other guests as well as familiarising themselves with the cinema environment.
