Visitors of all ages are invited to take part in a new programme of free indoor and outdoor activities at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire during February half term (17-21 February).

Activities range from indoor crafts and interactive storytelling sessions to outdoor woodland trails and play areas – ensuring a free day out for families the nation’s year-round place to remember.

Events and activities include Animals in Remembrance, a free animal-inspired craft session for families (12pm to 3pm).

‘Interactive Storytelling: Arbie and the Magical Lights’ is the latest in the Arboretum’s popular interactive storytelling series featuring the new children’s book, Arbie and the Magical Lights. Booking is required.

Visitors can explore the Arboretum's 150-acre site through the Animals in Remembrance Outdoor Trail which introduces stories about mascots, mythical creatures, and real animals who served in the Armed Forces. Price is £2.50 per person.

An enduring family favourite, the iconic Stick Man trail is available daily, with copies of the self-led route free to pick up from the welcome desk.

The Arboretum also has two outdoor play areas the Children’s Sensory Play Garden located near the Remembrance Centre, and a second play area with a picnic spot by the Children’s Wood.

“After the success of our previous half-term events, we are excited to offer a new range of fun and educational activities for families this February,” says Rachel Smith, head of Learning and Participation at the National Memorial Arboretum.

“Whether your family loves creative activities, storytelling, or exploring the great outdoors, there’s something for everyone at the Arboretum this half term.”
