The funding boost from Postcode Community Trust will enable the Our Place Mentoring Scheme to recruit and train a further 12 volunteer mentors. Working across the whole Sutton Coldfield community the Mentoring Scheme which has received Approved Provider Standard, delivers support to children and parents from 19 local schools and are now also accepting referrals from health professionals and parents/families directly.
Those accessing mentoring support face issues such as family breakdown, domestic violence, loss, low mood and poor self-esteem. Through accessing weekly mentoring sessions children and parents are given the time and space to better understand their emotions and look for a way to make positive changes to their lives.
Thanks to the funding from Postcode Community Trust, volunteer recruitment is now open.
