The Giving Tree – a festive initiative launched by a sixth form pupil at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School – is returning to the Gracechurch Centre for a second year.
Branching from an off-the-cuff comment in his Development Office interview last year, Upper Sixth student Elijah Nix set up the Giving Tree to spread some festive cheer and support charities.
Those wishing to donate to the initiative can take a tag from the tree and then place a gift in the basket alongside it.
Bishop Vesey’s students will then collect and wrap the gifts before delivering them to local charities in time for Christmas.
Charities being supported this year are St Basil’s, Birmingham City Mission, the Salvation Army and the Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce’s chosen charity, YMCA Sutton Coldfield.
The tree will be manned from 2.30pm to 5pm every weekday and from 10am to 3pm every Saturday and Sunday.
The last day for collections will be Sunday 20 December.
