The annual 8.5 mile run - which has raised more than £5m for over 100 charities over the past 40 years - featured around 4,800 people of all ages.

Mr Wright sent the runners on their way as they headed off on the route across the Royal Town.

Among the participants were 114 staff from Mr Wright’s hospitality business Wright Restaurants T/A McDonald’s, who raised £13,000 for the High Sheriff Charity of the Year Kids’ Village Charity.

Mr Wright said: “The sense of unity and camaraderie was palpable as runners, volunteers, and supporters came together to make the Sutton Coldfield fun run a truly memorable event.

“The dedication and enthusiasm shown by all involved, from sponsors to participants, exemplified the community's commitment to supporting those in need.

“As the High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I am proud to have been part of such a meaningful initiative and look forward to the continued success of future events that promote health, well-being, and charitable giving in our community.

“The run was a testament to the power of community spirit and the impact we can make when we come together for a common cause.

“Thank you to my dedicated High Sheriff Cadets from West Midlands Police, West Bromwich Fire Cadets and St John Ambulance for their invaluable support during yesterday's Sutton Coldfield Fun Run.

“Ranging from 13 to 16, these young individuals got to experience handing out medals, standing on the start line in front of 4,800 participants, volunteering to distribute water on the finish line and remarkable fundraising for Kids Village Charity.

“Your dedication and willingness to serve the community is truly amazing and I am grateful for your contributions in making yesterday's event a memorable experience for all.”
