A group of hospitals that includes Good Hope in Sutton Coldfield is making an urgent appeal to businesses for help in providing vital items for 20,000 members of staff.

The appeal is being made by the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity which includes the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Good Hope Hospital.

UHB Charity is supporting the work of the incredible NHS Superheroes who are engaged in the fight against COVID-19 and is funding a wide variety of items to help the staff.

From providing snacks and drinks to keep staff members going, to funding iPads to allow patients to speak to their families from the safety of their beds, donations to the charity will make a huge difference.

Charlotte Schofield, director of fundraising at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said: “We are asking for the support of all businesses across the West Midlands who might be able to help us in providing vital supplies for our NHS Superheroes at this time.

“We need donations, in bulk, of thermal mugs for hot drinks, bottled soft drinks including energy drinks, toiletries including hand moisturisers, power packs for charging mobile phones and snacks.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the incredible support that we’ve had already, both to those individuals who have made a donation to support our work, and those businesses who have already made generous physical donations.

“With such a large workforce across our four hospitals your continued support over the coming weeks and months will be crucial in helping us to keep supporting our NHS Superheroes at this incredibly challenging time.”
