Charity colouring-in book Lockdown Legends is selling fast and has already raised over £5,000 for NHS hospitals.

Less than two weeks after the release of the book created by Sutton Coldfield Chamber member PLOTT Creative and local illustrator Sabina Gran, it is almost sold out – and plans are in place for a reprint.

Schools are using them for keyworkers’ children, parents are using them to home school and the NHS are using them for the wellbeing of their nurses.

West Midlands mayor Andy Street, called it a “fantastic initiative” and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce CEO, Paul Faulkner said: “It’s great to see companies being adaptable and agile, using their skills to support each other and the NHS. I did think twice as to whether I should keep away from the kids!”

Birmingham musician Mike Skinner from The Streets and TV star Claudia Winkleman have also requested copies.

The book features illustrations of NHS angels, Colonel Tom Moore, Joe Wicks and many others,

Art supplier, Cass Art, have also donated 400 sets of pencils to the cause and these have been distributed to the local hospitals to be used in the wellbeing hubs to help hospital staff unwind and relax during shifts.

Mark Cass, CEO and founder, said: “Art and creativity has helped so many of our friends, families and children navigate the challenge of this time. We’re delighted to be part of this fantastic project and it’s an honour to give back to our incredible Frontline workers in any way that we can.”

Every penny raised from the sale of the Lockdown Legends colouring-in book will go to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s NHS ‘Superheroes Fund’, which provides support for frontline workers at the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals, along with the new temporary Nightingale hospital.

The book is available to buy here and here for £12.95.

Charlotte Schofield (pictured), director of fundraising at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said: “We are so pleased to be a part of this project, and are delighted to be using them in our Wellbeing Hubs across the four hospitals to help our staff unwind and relax.

"The money raised from the colouring books will go directly towards supporting out frontline staff who are working tirelessly to support our patients and fight the battle against COVID-19.”
