Andrew Mitchell MP visited Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls to speak to the sixth form students about his role as their Member of Parliament assuring them that the country and his constituency come before his party.
Andrew then explained his view on some topical issues, covering the need for more cooperation to combat the retreat of an international rules-based system, the recent National Security Council leak, and the role of the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council in trying to take control of Sutton Park.
After the introduction the students had the opportunity to question Andrew on issues important to them. Andrew was impressed by the well-informed questions, which ranged from the effect of Brexit on the political system, to austerity and foodbanks. The pupils were so engaged that many stayed behind after the session had finished to continue to debate with Andrew.
After the visit, Andrew said:
“It is always a pleasure to visit this great local school and meet the talented young
people who study here, and who are so clearly engaged in the world around them.”
