Sutton Coldfield College is celebrating a record year of A Level success - with 57 per cent at the top grades.

Hundreds of learners studying a range of courses at the college’s A Level Centre, achieved an impressive 99 per cent pass rate, with 57 per cent high grades – of which 155 were A* and A.

In addition, BTEC Extended Diploma students from across BMet’s three colleges – James Watt, Matthew Boulton and Sutton Coldfield, achieved an impressive 98 per cent pass rate.  

A selection of students went into Sutton Coldfield College this week to celebrate their exam success with their tutors.

Renee Harvey, 18, who achieved Biology (A*), Chemistry (A) and Maths (A*) A Levels, said: " I am so very happy with my results! I am now looking forward to starting at the University of Birmingham to study Medicine in September. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at college and am thankful for the excellent teaching staff and facilities."

Gabriel Morrisey-Limb, 18, is now about to study Religious Studies at the University of Edinburgh, after gaining an A* in Media Studies, an A in Politics and an A in Religious Studies.

He said: “I am really pleased with my results and feel that my hard work and dedication has certainly paid off. My parents are also so happy, as I am the first person in my family to have achieved such results.”

Hollie Murphy, achieved an A* in Philosophy and an A in English Literature and Drama and Theatre.

She said: “I am ecstatic about the outcome of my results, which means that I can now go to the University of York to study English and Philosophy. The support that I and all the students have received has been phenomenal.”

Hannah Ahmad, studied an Extended Diploma in Applied Science and achieved a D* in Biology and a D in Chemistry and Physics.

She said: “My results mean that I can now go to the University of Wolverhampton to study Pharmacology, which has always been my dream and I now look forward to the future!”

“Just like last year, we are extra proud that both our students and staff have been able to show such resilience in the face of such challenges that Covid-19 has brought.

“Since April over three thousand pieces of A Level work have been assessed by our tutors, this is testament to the hard work of students, the dedication of our staff and the grades confirmed.
