A talented Sutton Coldfield student has been crowned the winner of a unique design competition with local business, Syer Hair & Beauty, launched by Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID (Business Improvement District).
The BID’s latest initiative saw the independent salon team up with Sutton College to offer budding creatives the opportunity to showcase their skills by designing Syer’s latest advert artwork.
Shamas Mehrban, who impressed the business with his eye-catching design, was awarded a £50 voucher to spend at the Gracechurch Centre funded by Sutton Coldfield BID, as well as having his advert displayed at the Sutton Card Voucherpoint in the centre.
Having recently joined the Sutton Card, a unique loyalty card which offers the local community a wide range of rewards across dining, leisure and retail in Sutton Coldfield, the design showcased Syer’s latest offer available to cardholders of 20% off a cut and finish.
With over 9,000 local residents already signed up to the scheme, the scheme aims to increase awareness of the town’s offering and encourage local residents to discover something new.
Visitors can easily view the discounts and deals available, and print off vouchers, at VoucherPoints located in The Gracechurch Centre, Bottle of Sack and Empire Cinema.
Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said: “We’re delighted to reveal the winner of Syer Hair & Beauty’s design competition. We’re dedicated to collaborating with local businesses, and the competition is a fantastic way for local students to showcase their skills and gain some hands-on experience designing for real businesses, not to mention a great way to spread the word about the incredible offers available to the community through the Sutton Card. A huge congratulations to Shamas Mehrban!”
Kimberley Syer, Syer Hair and Beauty, added: “We are absolutely thrilled with the quality of the winning design, and have been so impressed by the high standard of entries from all of the students at Sutton College that we have decided to continue working with the department across our future marketing projects.”
