Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID has revealed this month’s worthy Sutton Smiles Better winner is Olivia Hamilton.
This local initiative, now in its sixth month, rewards community champions for their hard work, dedication and commitment to going the extra mile every day to make someone smile.
The scheme, fuelled by public nominations, encourages the community to nominate and reward the hardworking local people who make a difference to their customers, whether they work in retail, hospitality or professional services.
Vision Express customer assistant, Oliva Hamilton, was nominated by fellow colleague Stephanie Rew for her tireless devotion, ongoing commitment and personalised service to customers.
Oliva, who has worked for Vision Express since leaving school, following an apprenticeship programme with the company since November 2015, moved to the Sutton store in January 2017 and has been making her mark there ever since.
In her nomination, Stephanie said: “Oliva has been working tirelessly since Vision Express reopened for emergency care earlier this month. She does everything with a positive, upbeat attitude and is always smiling.
“She has been diligently making emergency spectacles for those that need them, sorting out queries and even hand-delivering contact lenses and specs for those that can’t get out.
“Although the doors to the store can’t be open fully to the public just yet, Olivia has been making sure all her customers are looked after all whilst smiling and remaining upbeat! Well done Liv!”
Oliva will take home £100 worth of local vouchers to celebrate her win.
When told she was this month’s winner, Oliva said “I’m delighted to receive this award, it’s a real shock and so humbling. My favourite part of the job is being able to repair or replace a pair of glasses, in our on-site lab, seeing the gratitude on customers faces when we’ve helped them with something they desperately need is really rewarding.
“Since operations have changed, the biggest difference is not seeing the constant regulars that you’re used to seeing at least once, maybe twice a week. We always have a quick catch up and set the world to rights.
“I have seen a couple of customers and we’ve spoke through the door, but it just doesn’t compare. Our customers have been understanding and grateful that someone’s willing to help, despite the challenging circumstances.”
Every month, a panel of local business representatives select one worthy winner from the nominations, who will win £100 vouchers to spend in the town centre.
