10 December 2020 – The Gracechurch Centre has partnered with What’s On Sutton Coldfield to launch a competition to win £200 in vouchers this Christmas.
Running until midnight on Sunday 13th December, The Gracechurch Centre and What’s On Sutton Coldfield are on a mission to find this year’s ‘Sutton’s Star’ in recognition of all the kind-hearted Suttonites who have done something remarkable to help others during the past year. To put somebody forward to win £200 in vouchers to spend at selected Gracechurch Centre and Town Centre retailers, courtesy of Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District (BID), followers of the Gracechurch Centre Facebook page can comment on the competition post with a short description of why they feel their nominee is deserving of the prize. Submissions are then put before a panel of judges who will select a winner.
The Gracechurch Centre will once again be supporting pupils from Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School throughout December by hosting its charity Giving Tree, which helps members of the local community experiencing hard times. To get involved, simply take an envelope containing details of someone in need and the items they require from the Giving Tree, located in Bishops Court at The Gracechurch Centre. The team will be on hand to take donations from 2:30pm – 5pm on weekdays, and 10am – 3pm on weekends, although instructions will be on display should visitors wish to make donations outside of these hours.
Angela Henderson, Centre Manager at The Gracechurch Centre, said:
“The past year has shown us the importance of community and supporting one another during challenges times. As a Centre, we take our role at the heart of the town centre very seriously and believe it’s important to partner with organisations like the What’s On Sutton Coldfield and the BID to make a positive difference and to support local people and businesses. We hope these initiatives help to spread festive cheer within the town and encourage everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly and take care of one another over Christmas.”
Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said:
“Despite the many difficulties we have faced this year, we are so proud of how the people of Sutton Coldfield have pulled together, and it is heart-warming to see the wonderful sense of community throughout the Royal Town. We know that we are stronger together - that’s why we are dedicated to working closely with The Gracechurch Centre and our partners to deliver a host of Covid-secure, community initiatives this Christmas. Although this year’s celebrations will undoubtedly be a little different, we hope that the Sutton Star scheme and Giving Tree will bring a little Christmas magic to the town centre and help to spread some much-needed joy.”
