Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School has unveiled its new timeline display, which celebrates the school’s rich heritage since its inception in 1527.

Designed and delivered by Sutton-Coldfield based creative agency, The Curry Design Studio, the artwork is located in Big School’s entrance corridor and is over 20 metres long.

Incorporating the school’s house colours throughout the design, the timeline captures some of the most significant moments and milestones in Bishop Vesey’s history, from its formation, through World War II to the present day and Covid-related challenges.

Within the design, The Curry Design Studio also included old ‘veseyan’ newsletters from across the decades, examples of coins and medals from various periods, as well as old pictures of the school to highlight its development.

The centre piece of the design then features three glass panels proudly displaying the school’s vision, values and emblem, which is the first thing guests see as they enter the building.

Kate Curry, director at The Curry Design Studio, said: “After being commissioned to design a timeline graphic, we were keen to create something that offered a true representation of the school and its values, whilst accurately detailing its development over the years.

“Through careful consultation with the school, we were able to get a thorough understanding of Bishop Vesey’s rich heritage and the events that have defined the school and moulded it into the much-loved institution it is today.

“Whilst we wanted the timeline to capture significant moments and milestones, it was important that this enhanced the design of the display, so that it stood out in the vast corridor and grabbed the attention of visitors.

“Overall, working with BVGS on this project was a really proud moment for us, as we have a close affinity with the school through our family members and the BVGS Corporate Partnership initiative.

“We also feel passionately about working with schools and businesses within our wonderful community, making it a better place for young people to thrive and work in.”

Dominic Robson, headteacher at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, said: “I am really grateful to The Curry Design Studio for a beautiful installation of the BVGS history timeline in Big School’s corridor.

“They have done a fantastic job, and I am positive that the display will inspire students, as they can get a glimpse into the 500-year history of our school.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to Kate and her team and our outgoing Communications Lead, Martha, for the success of the project.”
